Innovation in Construction - Red Bull’s Less Commonly Used Motor Graders

At Red Bull Equipment, we take pride in our extensive knowledge and experience in the construction industry. Because we specialise in providing high quality used plant machinery, we’ve had the chance to source equipment from leading manufacturers from all ends of the field, and with over 17 years’ worth of experience, we’ve seen the developments in technology happen before our eyes. Over time, we’ve been lucky to develop a broad selection of stock, including motor grades that aren’t commonly used here in the UK – namely, the CAT 140M grader, which we recently fitted with the Trimble Earthworks GPS levelling system.

With the ongoing developments of HS2 – the UK’s state-of-the-art, high speed rail line, intended to create a better link between Glasgow, the North and London – these types of graders have already been, and will continue to be, in high demand. HS2, described by its pioneers as ‘Britain’s Biggest Dig’, is only in its early stages. And yet already, it has required construction and engineering on a national level that we have hardly seen before. With the demolition of former sites making way for the building of new stations, depots, bridges, tunnels and more, a project of this size requires machinery that is modern, innovative, and most of all, efficient.

So, what makes this motor grader different? Our CAT 140M grader is the first in the UK to be fitted with the Trimble Earthworks GPS levelling system, a new technology that ensures efficiency, promises productivity, and means that operators are doing a more conclusive job at a speedier rate. With a new grade control software that is intuitive and easy to learn, it comes with a range of benefits, including modern graphics, personalisable features to mimic the operators’ own work flow, and data that is easily transferable from the office to the application. Trimble has developed a Dual GNSS solution to meet the modern needs of the industry. Higher precision and greater accuracy is promised by real-time positioning and heading of the machine, with guidance of the blade in 3D, guaranteeing faster reaction times and increased performance. With this kind of technology improving the basic functionality of machinery, it will become increasingly pivotal to employ this kind of equipment in projects like HS2, where efficiency is key for meeting targets, cutting costs, and getting the job done.

Modern innovation requires modern solutions within the construction industry, and we believe projects like HS2 are only the start. Red Bull Equipment are here for all of your own equipment needs, with buying and hiring options available no matter where you are based in the country.
